POEM: Macaroni Art

Has it ever occurred to you
That your 's is but
Macaroni
Only then realizing
That it is covering 's refrigerator
And how great that is

This poem touches upon a number of themes: , self-confidence, and . Every parent of a kid who is at least in elementary school has been given artworks that are of modest skill and humble materials, the proverbial macaroni . Nonetheless, just as common, a parent receives such gifts with delight and affection. I find it encouraging to envision receiving my less-than-skillful contributions to with delight and affection. Of course, that which is most human and divine is so much more than “stuff.” May our be overflowing with delight and affection.
