POEM: Freely

It seems that capitalism (getting the most for the least) has made US a nation of thieves. If you leave your door unlocked, you are blamed for someone stealing from you; as if an unlocked door is an irresistible temptation to steal. Buy the weigh, many of us older folks grew up in neighbor hoods where many people did not lock their doors — and they didn’t get robbed out of existence. Our current fortress mentality teaches us that distrust is the default — always the default of others, of course. I yearn to give and receive freely. I want my life to be an unlocked adore…

Freely

They came to steal
That which I had
Awe ready
Freely given
