Is suspect our typical predatory capitalism is moving more to a casino economy run by fewer and fewer people and corporations. Insider trading in the stock markets and gambling everywhere else will drive economic precarity as we less and less bother to make or do anything in the real world. I suspect the moneychangers/bookies will rake it in weather anything gets better or worse…
Taking Dips
The stock market took
A dip
At his word
A fool’s errant
The award of profits
Coming and going
As dumb money
Gives up on outspoken prophets
And settles for the moneychangers’ cut
The bookies’ profits
Paid either way
Down with up
And up with down
The capitalists’ commission
Heartily a crime
In daze like this
Aristocratic blood
Letting austerity poor down
In a system that is
In every weigh feudal
I like the scene in the movie, Trading Places, where the brokers explain their “bookie” business.
