POEM: Patient Alchemy

In this whirled, in the daze we live in, it seems that expertise madders. This poem is a tip of the hat to expertise and the insightful wisdom contained within those domains of expertise. May we have patient, open minds in learning to be teachable…

Patient Alchemy

The jeweler
An expert so called
Demonstrated how
To split a diamond
A show enough gem
Striking it once
Twice
Three times
Nothing
Ten times
Twenty times
Thirty times
Nothing
Seventy times
Eighty times
Ninety times
Nothing
In tact
Till the hundredth time
After most of the crowd split
The diamond cleaved
Bemoaned bye many
As useless
A clumsy flail
99% of the time
A flawed efficiency
In awe the way
Riddled with not have way
Too fine that fault line
With such patient alchemy
Not the facet way
In such realms
Of indivisible and invisible
To halve crystal vision
Or weary too be herd
Seamingly
Not enough carats
To justify their weight
Yet those who cool
Won’s heels
In silence
Gasp at the yield
Grasping how sum
A quit them selves
And sell dumb
Master ignorance
But then agin
What due
Experts know
