WHAT?!
Part of don’t don’t
Wee under stand
A bout
Being Black in America
Served up by coppers
Not worth too sense
Like Lincolns shot in the head
From a civil war that never ends
Accept buy the death of Blacks
Yep, that’s US
United around colors
Stained of red
On a background of White privilege
Blue in the face of impunity
Giving rise to spooky stars
Who will
Never see the light of day
As surrounded by the gravest darkness
But fear not
As wee are only
Half amassed
With our eye on the price
Of such sacred target
And holed fast
Until Black Lives Matter
My heart breaks at yet more Black men are murdered by police. The impunity of police, supposed law enforcement, is stupefying. This poem is dedicated to the victims and their loved ones. May the survivors get justice under the law. This poem is also dedicated to awe of those participating in the Black Lives Matter movement. Hopefully, the grievous murders will find some redemption in sparking and fueling the Black Lives Matter movement, so we can put an end to police impunity and our racist criminal justice system. Let US never forget the victims of police brutality and impunity. Let US work for justice and equal protection under the law for all Americans. This country will never be free or just until Black Lives Matter.
