POEM: Bent Knee Walking

I see conflict as an unavoidable aspect of life. Even with my best intentions I end up harming others in various ways. Certainly, I can greatly limit this through effort and attention on my part. Still, there is a chasm between intentionally and unintentionally hurting someone else. This poem is a meditation on these times of great conflict and violence in which we live. My prayer is to have compassion on all living beings.

Bent Knee Walking

If my protesting
Makes your Amerikkka grate
As I no jackbooted thugs
While I walk my walk
Pardon me
If my bending of knee
Crosses paths
With your testicles
Of whatever
Sighs
For I no
No no
And know
The deference
Between praying and preying
