POEM: Fifteen Minutes of Fame

Fame kills.

Fifteen Minutes of Fame

“You’re not drunk if you can lie on the floor without holding on.” –Dean Martin

He had
That first helping
Fifteen minutes
Of fame
And besot
By 900 seconds
And as won swill
He was toast
And licked
Efface down
On the ground
And oddly even then
Could heartily hang on
