{"id":9940,"date":"2026-06-26T12:48:28","date_gmt":"2026-06-26T16:48:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/toppun.com\/blog\/?p=9940"},"modified":"2026-06-26T12:48:51","modified_gmt":"2026-06-26T16:48:51","slug":"poem-mustering-up-the-least","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/toppun.com\/blog\/2026\/06\/26\/poem-mustering-up-the-least\/","title":{"rendered":"POEM: Mustering Up, The Least"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This poem is my answer to the false White \u201cChristian\u201d ethnonationalists who have been the dark heart of anti-refugee and anti-immigrant efforts among US for many generations.<\/p>\n<p>The U.S. Supreme Court issued two devastating opinions eviscerating the international human right to seek asylum as a refugee at a border, fortifying policies to &#8220;turn back&#8221; refugees; and secondly, virtually ending any right for refugees already in the U.S. under Temporary Protected Status, many who are long-term residents and have &#8220;mixed status&#8221; families (spouses, children who are U.S. citizens). For more details <a href=\"https:\/\/www.democracynow.org\/2026\/6\/26\/supreme_court_asylum_seekers\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">watch this Democracy Now news segment<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><strong>Mustering Up, The Least<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cWhat you have done to the least of these, you have done to me.\u201d<\/em> \u2013Unknown non-white, non-English-speaking foreigner who was unjustly threatened and then killed by a nation\u2019s elite<\/p>\n<p>In a relatively species argument<br \/>\nWhite \u201cChristian\u201d ethnonationalists wince agin<br \/>\nAt a God of an other<br \/>\nLand<br \/>\nBlood<br \/>\nHomme<br \/>\nSpirit<br \/>\nSpeaking in tongues<br \/>\nKnot their own<br \/>\nMore and more<br \/>\nInciting sentries passed<br \/>\nMine verses yore<br \/>\nThe nativists are wrest less<br \/>\nFrayed of their own<br \/>\nShadow<br \/>\nMore and more<br \/>\nA resurrection peep-hole<br \/>\nUn-Abel<br \/>\nToo due any thing<br \/>\nAbut raising Cain<br \/>\nSoully to raze<br \/>\nOne\u2019s family<br \/>\nDeaf to<br \/>\nThere cries Jesus<br \/>\nWhat you halve<br \/>\nDone to me<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cThe foreigner residing among you must be treated as your native-born. Love them as yourself, for you were foreigners in Egypt.
