This poem is about hubris, specifically that dividing lyin’ between our powerful tendency to favor our own interests, subjective or not, over others who are often reduced to means toward ends, without equal favor. I find the axiom that God rains on the just and the unjust as the ground for my sacred appreciation of what I consider the holy grail of Jesus’ teaching: love your enemies. As a mirror human soully made in God’s image, I find that I need a lot of help living up to this…<\/p>\n

God Rains on The Just and The Unjust<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Right as rain
\nAssured of it
\nThat dividing lyin\u2019
\nBetween hymn self
\nAnd awe others
\nFor ever object-ing
\nPossessed with his own
\nPoint of you
\nAnd his titanic share of the reign
\nIn a cold, cold see
\nAnd fantasies of being grounded
\nNever subject
\nToo God\u2019s rein
\nAnd the parent possibility
\nOf being
\nWashed up
\nAnd up agin
\nSettling for just muddling
\nBeyond avail
\nSoully doubling down
\nOn this double blind
\nWeather effacing tear drops
\nOr unfathomable joy
\nKnow won gets
\nA way clean
\nAs some manor of umbrella
\nUnder heaven\u2019s care
\nSoully re-nude
\nTo the whirled
