Last Fall, I wrote this poem about mass shooting incidents in America. I didn’t expect the impetus for publishing it would be a mass shooting blocks from my house, and during the best neighborhood festival around. I consider Toledo and the Old West End where I live to be a hidden jewel in the Midwest. I still do. Unfortunately, we can’t expect to dodge the decay of American society. \nWhy, why, why
\nSuch why’s guise
\nIn a post, post, post modern
\nAsinine nation
\nIn deep, deep, deep
\nAlien nation
\nSow so-so wanting normal
\nDe-fault a la mode
\nTaken too extremes
\nRed pill
\nAngry and aggrieved
\nBlue pill
\nDepressed and unbelieved
\nWhen as a madder of fact
\nDepressingly taken
\nBuy black pills
\nThat don’t work
\nOr have sects
\nBut accost allot
\nTo every won unconcerned
\nOr what does it mean
\nToo be a man
\nDrug threw life
\nTo knot no a preyer
\nWhere awe is
\nGame
\nGamer
\nGamiest
\nToo high

\nBe helled
\nAs everything aloud
\nDelivering affront page knews to us
