Empty Plates With Dancing Tales<\/span><\/p>\n

A crowd gathers<\/span>
\nA performer spins<\/span>
\nA dozen plates on poles<\/span>
\nLike angels dancing on pinheads<\/span>
\nHow many are possible?!<\/span>
\nWorthy of a few coins<\/span>
\nFore a collection of small bills<\/span>
\n[Unmarked except by bankers]<\/span>
\nGathered wear<\/span>
\nOne’s head might normally be<\/span>
\nSouth versus North<\/span>
\nAn animal magnetism<\/span>
\nWhose gravity is unequaled<\/span>
\nAnd might be considered<\/span>
\nUn-slavery to sum<\/span>
\nA spectacle to most<\/span>
\nProviding little food for belly<\/span>
\nOr thought <\/span>
\nStill<\/span>
\nWithin arms reach<\/span>
\nYet outside rapt attention<\/span>
\nAgainst the wall<\/span>
\nEven rarer<\/span>
\nA woman’s plate<\/span>
\nHolding earthly delights<\/span>
\nFrom seasons passed<\/span>
\nA cache returned<\/span>
\nFrom soil and toil<\/span>
\nYielding<\/span>
\nA patience<\/span>
\nUnseen by any human hospitality<\/span>
\nAs sun and seed conspire<\/span>
\nAs clearly as mud<\/span>
\nUntrampled from above<\/span>
\nClan destined<\/span>
\nTo over-look<\/span>
\nFrom whither<\/span>
\nRations aplenty<\/span>
\nAnd from the gaunt let<\/span>
\nTurn their eyes<\/span>
\nAnd just<\/span>
\nBeyond the pale<\/span>
\nI specked<\/span>
\nReturn dimly<\/span>
\nTo one’s own moat<\/span>
\nFor a fort night<\/span>
\nNever leaving port or ail<\/span>
\nA thousands channels to sea<\/span>
\nWhat can’t be seen everyday<\/span>
\nEvery day<\/span>
\nNever the less<\/span>
\nThe woman sews<\/span>
\nYet another see’d<\/span>
\nAcquainted with empty plates<\/span>
\nAnd those by which continents are divided<\/span>
\nShe undertakes the tectonic shift<\/span>
\nIn udder silence<\/span>
\nAs the upper crust<\/span>
\nTakes<\/span>
\nUp<\/span>
\nThe mantle<\/span>
\nPicturing itself free<\/span>
\nIngeniously framed<\/span>
\nBuy empty plates<\/span>
\nWith dancing tales<\/span><\/p>\n

I have long been fascinated by the often sharp and surreal contrasts between the inane and the meaningful. \u00a0In post-modern times, it seems that inane distractions are reaching all-time highs on a daily basis. \u00a0Still, the generous forces of nature and creativity counter such head-bobbing and rubber-necking with constant access to simple and awesome pleasures to participate in as co-creators. \u00a0In this poem, growing and eating one’s own food is that tectonic shift that will change the world, though perhaps at an\u00a0imperceptibly slow pace to all but those with the largest perspectives. \u00a0I am grateful that it is more than possible to surf such tectonic shifts and still be well grounded!<\/p>\n

Also, in case you missed it, I choose a woman to represent those connected with the forces of creation. \u00a0Women do most of the work in the world, including most of the\u00a0underpaid\u00a0and unpaid work in the world. \u00a0We all owe a debt to them. \u00a0THANK YOU!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
