Thank you, Ziad<\/a>, for sharing your father’s story with me. I am inspired by his deep connection to the land and people of Palestine. Drinking a cup of olive oil each morning and valuing the olive trees as more than his own property is a testament to us awe. Here is the poem I wrote in his honor:<\/p>\n

Landing On, Peace for Palestine<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

More than a father just
\nThe life of the olive branch
\nRuns through his veins
\nTransfusing every mourning
\nGiving berth to new dawnings
\nAs the land and I are won
\nAs worthy sentries honor land
\nRooting for life
\nOffering both rest and flight
\nFore awe who nest
\nAs sure as God\u2019s heir
\nBrings breath to stone
\nAnd thou dust inspire
\nAll that is well courses through us
\nTeaching soully
\nAs the sores of life can
\nAs millions of sons
\nShine from the heavens
\nEven more sow on the darkest night
\nAnd unblinded by any high noon
