One of my recent pet peeves is cable TV news in what seems to be am over-focus on Donald Trump, to the exclusion of the rest of the many intriguing and important things going on in the world. Ironically, these self-fulfilling prophets are concerned about him sucking all of the oxygen out of the room. I grow weary of the endless hand-wringing over whether “the base” will ever change. Thus, this poem:<\/p>\n

Base Squared<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

We here too much
\nA bout \u201cthe base\u201d
\nImmutable
\nThe libs frayed
\nOf the buy and buy
\nUtterly owned
\nHapless to square that circle
\nThe won wring
\nToo rule them
\nAwe
\nCould it really be sow simple?
\nArtlessly square
\nIn efface of
\nBase base
\nFooly comfortable
\nDigging that bedrock
\nAnd when the bed is rocking
\nDon\u2019t come knocking
\nOh Oh
\nDesperately tempting
\nTo replenish
\nThat Oh\u00b2
\nIn the room
\nWith know room
\nWhen really awe
\nIt takes
\nRealizing
\nChange happens
