I wrote this poem a bout the perennial federal hostage taking and ransom demands by Republicans around raising the debt ceiling whenever they don’t have full control. This running over the country and rerunning over the country is unique to our nation and probably unconstitutional. It is a manufactured crisis. The Democrats suffer from Stockholm syndrome, sympathizing with their hostage takers and pleading with the public to praise them for negotiating a lower ransom payment. Stop negotiating with fiscal terrorists! Do not question the payment of our bills. Who wants to live in a deadbeat nation?<\/p>\n

\nTo your regularly scheduled hostage taking
\nIn progress
\nLedgedly over fed balance sheet
\nSum how
\nRequiring stiffing those owed
\nRepleting unsettling accounts
\nRepublic in arrears
\nPawning oaths of office
\nFor some trashy scrip
\nFrom a bankrupt dogma [see chapter 11]
\nWhose dominant trait or stripe
\nIs can\u2019t budge it
\nThey perplexingly buy it
\nAnd reckon you will pay for it
\nNow and then
\nFulminating at the mouth
\nA testing that they would
\nGladly pay in voice
\nAnd if need be, re-lie on their father
\nTo forgive their debts
\nSelf-fulfilling profits
\nSkimmed from others
\nCredit raiding
\nSow much overdo
\nAs if
\nDefault of everyone else
\nEveryone crying
\nLay off
\nAgin
\nIn snare of that brutal dictum
\nPersonnel responsibility
\nAnd for every won ails
\nAusterity for awe its worth
\nLess those with congressional hall passes
\nLined with august busts and passing bills

\nBe got from capital hill
\nA solution in search of a problem
