A Litany For The Birds<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

A first bird<\/em><\/span>
\nIn early mourning<\/em><\/span>
\nCalls out the names<\/em><\/span>
\nOf each creature<\/em><\/span>
\nNo longer in this realm this day<\/em><\/span>
\nA second bird<\/em><\/span>
\nIn a coo of sorts<\/em><\/span>
\nSings out the names<\/em><\/span>
\nOf each soul first born this day<\/em><\/span>
\nAnd better yet, of those to be born anew<\/em><\/span>
\nA third bird<\/em><\/span>
\nWeaves prayers<\/em><\/span>
\nFor all that has brought us here this day<\/em><\/span>
\nAnd for awe that is yet to come<\/em><\/span>
\nNesting all of our daze<\/em><\/span>
\nOft seeming out of nothing to no end<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

I often write poems as a form of therapy. I have often thought that I would do better to not have birds cawing and singing in the early morning. This poem turns that oft seeming useless or annoying ritual\u00a0 into something meaningful, even awe-inspiring. I do find great comfort in the awesome power of nature that nests life. Poems and rituals are the stuff of myth, and sometimes I have to intentionally myth the point to reconnect with awesomeness and gratitude.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
