This poem is a tip of the hat to indigenous peoples’ supremely wise practice of considering every decision in the light of how it will affect people seven generations down the road. I wrote this during the dark of the Trump regime. Still, this Mother Earth poem is as timeless now as ever.\u00a0 May such wisdom fuel us out of the current age of foolish, short-term profit.<\/p>\n

A Seventh Generation Fuel<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

She had her eye on the prize
\nPain know tension
\nToo the 24 hour news cycle
\nQuarterly prophets
\nAnnual deports
\nTerminal terms
\nCompounding eras of history repeating
\nAs if
\nShe was knot that kind
\nOf fool
\nRather every member empowered
\nBy the seventh generation
\nA fuel of the highest order
\nKnowing the deference
\nBetween
\nWould
