This poem is about living in the grievously beautiful realty that a truly open heart is a broken heart. I wrote this poem years ago, and now I have come to understand that my heart is broke in, as in the test runs of my heart having prepared me to run more effectively. May your heart aches prepare you for better living.<\/p>\n

The Whole In My Soul<\/strong><\/p>\n

As pain bleeds into beauty
\nIn slow motion
\nMy heart beaten
\nSince before I new
\nWhat it was like to be borne
\nBefore I couldn’t breathe
\nIn neighboring the human raze
\nThe yoke that was on me
\nWon of light
\nIn a dark whirled
\nUnveiled
\nAs a bushel basket tumbling down
\nA city on a hill
\nAn empty hull shed
\nLeaving only a naked seed
\nWhose fate wrests in being soiled
\nIn grained looking up
\nEven as stars are
\nIncontrovertibly shrouded
\nAs commonplace as souls under foot
\nAnd still life
\nSprings forth
\nFrom where sow ever
\nFathomed
\nA broken heart
\nAs an open heart
\nPoored out
\nNot robbed as a thief
\nGiven free
\nNot a broke in heart
\nNor dread as adore nail
\nFore what
\nRather who
\nI am
\nIs more
\nThen awe that
