\nThe sores of philandering philanthropy<\/strong>
\nWell, come to PR medica<\/strong>
\nAn unholy owned subsidiary<\/strong>
\nOf Tourette’s Industries<\/strong>
\nYou will swear<\/strong>
\nBuy them<\/strong>
\nWeather you want to or not<\/strong>
\nTheir marketing deportment is<\/strong>
\nAs good as goaled<\/strong>
\nAs black as poets inc<\/strong>
\nGreasing their wills<\/strong>
\nStuck with irresistible pitch<\/strong>
\nAs verbally contracted<\/strong>
\nNot worth the pay per<\/strong>
\nPrinted upon<\/strong>
\nYet this awe<\/strong>
\nWill in deed<\/strong>
\nMake it passable to live<\/strong>
\nAs resistance is feudal<\/strong>

\nPenned<\/strong>
\nIs what poets due<\/strong>
\nIndubitably<\/strong>
\nSow branded<\/strong>
\nAs live stock<\/strong>
\nFor tolled<\/strong>
\nToo get a rise<\/strong>
\nThe Tao jones<\/strong>
\nWorking in our flavor<\/strong>
\nOver and over and over<\/strong>
\nUn-till bank rolled<\/strong>
\nIn a dark ally<\/strong>
\nBuy and buy<\/strong>
\nHour justifiable salivation<\/strong>
\nAttending too in trap meant anon<\/strong>
\nAgin and agin and agin<\/strong>
\nFore the yoke is on-us<\/strong>
\nAwe the more<\/strong>
\nFore the fire brand<\/strong>
\nNot with standing<\/strong>
\nIn a flesh of genius<\/strong>
\nIs incensed<\/strong>
\nAs won red scent<\/strong>
\nBecomes too<\/strong>
\nUntil udderly crying out<\/strong>
\nIn an unherd-of steer<\/strong>
\nI love the smell<\/strong>
\nOf nay palm<\/strong>
\nIn the mourning<\/strong>
\nHigh noon<\/strong>
\nAnd too fly by night<\/strong>
\nSullen this, sullen that<\/strong>
\nSoully worried<\/strong>
\nHow irate<\/strong>
\nIn some won ails size<\/strong>
\nButt, its my skin in the game<\/strong>
\nLonely hoping<\/strong>
\nKnot to be found<\/strong>
\nWithin and without<\/strong>
\nMy pants around my knees<\/strong>
\nAs its only<\/strong>
\nMy panties in a bunch<\/strong>
\nOver<\/strong>
\nAwe that madders<\/strong>
\nPoetic license<\/strong>
\nAnd corporate patronage<\/strong>
\nSome body<\/strong>
\nHas to<\/strong>
\nPay the piper<\/strong>
\nTo keep your roost ere plumbed<\/strong>
\nAs upright as it comes<\/strong>
\nWhy cant you<\/strong>
\nSay “uncle”<\/strong>
\nYou know<\/strong>
\nLike that rich uncle<\/strong>
\nWho wants you<\/strong>
\nTo sit on his lap<\/strong>
\nAnd tell you<\/strong>
\nBed time<\/strong>
\nStories<\/strong>
\nThat will mark you for life<\/strong>
\nButt kept mysteriously in a family weigh<\/strong>
\nAs long<\/strong>
\nAs in your genes<\/strong>
\nAs in c’est la vie<\/strong>
\nOr sow, I’ve herd<\/strong>
\nAs if<\/strong>
\nWe are posed to be prod<\/strong>
\nOf being cattle<\/strong>
\nScarred I’ll go<\/strong>
\nAll Gandhi on you as<\/strong>
\nBE the beef<\/strong>
\nAwe the wile beating a different conundrum<\/strong>
\nRefraining that whole eat me thing<\/strong>
\nThe mark of the best (sic)<\/strong>
\nOr rather sic sic sic’s<\/strong>
\nSow fresh and hoary unholy revelations<\/strong>
\nIndulging vain wishes for dead presidents<\/strong>
\nAnd CEOs<\/strong>
\nMen of letters posterior to autograft<\/strong>
\nAss-ever-rate<\/strong>
\nIn playing defense<\/strong>
\nAt my offense<\/strong>
\nWith such propriety, proprietary and property<\/strong>
\nFor my own good, posedly<\/strong>
\nTheir mirror deflection<\/strong>
\nBut, but, but, but, but<\/strong>
\nExcept two a t<\/strong>
\nAnd so<\/strong>
\nI’m bare assed<\/strong>
\nAnd without<\/strong>
\nThey’re money<\/strong>
\nYou’re nothing butt<\/strong>
\nA bum<\/strong>
\nAnd the rush<\/strong>
\nToo be just<\/strong>
\nTHAT<\/strong><\/p>\n

I am not a big fan of branding, whether it is of livestock or in corporate public relations. I was inspired to write this poem because at a regular monthly poetry reading they secured a small amount of funding to pay invited featured poets. \"Will<\/a>The source of funding included local community foundations plus the nearly ubiquitous ProMedica, the largest health system within the Toledo region. \u00a0I have come to call Promedica, “PR Medica,” because of its often over-sized logo and branding in Toledo, aka ProMedica-ville, is nearly omnipresent in venues big and small. \u00a0I found its intrusion into the local poetry scene offensive, particularly because I am an iconoclastic, anti-commercial poet who specializes in addressing social justice issues. \u00a0This was a little too close to home for me. \u00a0I announced before my open mic reading that I did not want to be considered as an invited poet. \u00a0I suggested that to de-commercialize this reading, sending back the portion payed for by ProMedica, along with a strongly worded letter (might I suggest F and U), would be in order.<\/p>\n

This is not the first time that I have unleashed my poetic visions against ProMedica. \u00a0The first time I devoted a poem to ProMedica was when they sponsored a state-wide poetry contest on the topic of anti-hunger with an honorarium to the winning poet that would befit and maintain the status of starving artist. \u00a0My unsubmitting, unremitting poem: Speaking With Spoken Sword: Owed To Hungering Fore Anew ProMedica<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\"Health<\/a>\"Single-PayerProMedica, if you want to combat hunger, pay all of your employees a living wage. \u00a0ProMedica, if you want to fulfill your mission and redeem your non-prophet status, devote 0.01% of your revenue toward advocating for universal health care, everybody in, nobody out. \u00a0Until then, you can bye this poet all you want.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
