What kind?<\/strong>
\nOf cruel after-math<\/strong>
\nIs Sen. Portman working up<\/strong>
\nThe American people<\/strong>
\nFacing death<\/strong>
\nBye the tens of thousands<\/strong>
\nBuy the tens of billions<\/strong>
\nFor tax cuts<\/strong>
\nFor the richest Americans<\/strong>
\nFor loaded corporations drunk on power<\/strong>
\nWhat is owed<\/strong>
\nTo the flush and the flushed<\/strong>
\nTo the affluent and the effluent<\/strong>
\nHow does this add up?<\/strong>
\nWhat is the take away?<\/strong>
\nIs this the American will?<\/strong>
\nThe right to health care<\/strong>
\nOr merely the extreme right of congress<\/strong>
\nInto an afterlife<\/strong>
\nLeaving loved wons behind<\/strong>
\nAnd nothing else<\/strong>
\nA cruel after-math<\/strong>
\nIt’s your cull<\/strong>
\nA nation divided<\/strong>
\nHalves and halve nots<\/strong>
\nAnd what might<\/strong>
\nYou be culpable of<\/strong>
\nAmericans may ever no<\/strong>
\nOf a partisan’s last will and testament<\/strong>
\nSow telling<\/strong>
\nIn the ends<\/strong>
\nAnd the means<\/strong>
\nOf congress<\/strong>
\nAnd its reverse<\/strong>
\nProgress<\/strong><\/p>\n

This is the poem that I read at today’s health care protest outside of Sen. Rob.Portman’s Toledo office (see video of poetry reading<\/a>). \u00a0A large laminated version of the above poem was delivered to his office. \u00a0<\/span>There were an estimated 45-45,000 protesters. \u00a0In the photo below, I am pictured in the center next to “Flat Rob,” a cutout of Sen. Portman that we use to conduct our own town hall meetings on the street, since Sen. Portman does not see it fit to hold official town hall meetings with his constituents.<\/p>\n
