The future looms<\/strong>
\nSew large<\/strong>
\nAs we seam<\/strong>
\nSow singularly stranded<\/strong>
\nIn the present<\/strong>
\nWeave heir<\/strong>
\nA parent<\/strong>
\nWith know designs<\/strong>
\nBeyond<\/strong>
\nSum won ails<\/strong>
\nAnd grater still<\/strong>
\nThe mine wandering<\/strong>
\nToo what end<\/strong>
\nAs life goes<\/strong>
\nOn and on<\/strong>
\nIn and out<\/strong>
\nAdding up<\/strong>
\nOne’s soul contribution<\/strong>
\nThe pit or pattern<\/strong>
\nOf little feat<\/strong>
\nNever apart<\/strong>
\nOf the family busyness<\/strong><\/p>\n

This poem is about solidarity and hope. \u00a0At times, each of us may feel alone, facing an uncertain future. \u00a0This poem sets such worries and fears in the context of being part of the human family, children of God. \u00a0You are not alone. \u00a0While our individual actions may seem futile, they are an undeniable thread in the fabric of the future. \u00a0Even when we feel screwed, the future is pregnant with possibilities. \u00a0\"Not<\/a>The Talmud wisely states, “It is not your obligation to complete your work, but you are not at liberty to quit.” \u00a0Change is ongoing — such is the nature of life. \u00a0Works worthy of the human race (versus the rat race) cross generations — even races! \u00a0 Worthy hopes and dreams often\u00a0need to live on across generations; thus, our hopes and dreams must pass the test of being in a family weigh. \u00a0As native Americans might put it: the arc of our lives should be aligned with the lives seven generations from now. \u00a0\"The<\/a>Further, as Martin Luther King, Jr. assured us, “The moral arc of the universe bends at the elbow of justice.” \u00a0Wherever your journey takes you, may you find courage\u00a0and hope in the company of others, and do your part taking care of the family busyness.<\/p>\n
