{"id":2270,"date":"2016-05-16T14:34:23","date_gmt":"2016-05-16T19:34:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/toppun.com\/blog\/?p=2270"},"modified":"2016-05-16T14:34:23","modified_gmt":"2016-05-16T19:34:23","slug":"poem-the-curator","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/toppun.com\/blog\/2016\/05\/16\/poem-the-curator\/","title":{"rendered":"POEM: The Curator"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>I am<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>The curator<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Of your infinite beauty<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Privy to collections timeless<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>And in real time<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Streaming glorious tributaries<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>To the art of who you are<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This is a poem about the glorious privilege in close relationships of having unique access to the\u00a0beauty of another, particularly a lover. \u00a0Inspired by my muse and sweetheart, such beauty is an unending &#8212; as in head over heels &#8212; source of teeming enthrallment. \u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/toppun.com\/Peace-Signs\/Buttons\/Joy-is-Most-Infallible-Sign-Presence-of-God-PEACE-QUOTE-BUTTON.html\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/toppun.com\/Great-Quotes\/Peace-Quotes\/Peace-Quote-Peace-Sign-66.gif\" alt=\"Joy is Most Infallible Sign Presence of God--PEACE QUOTE BUTTON\" width=\"172\" height=\"172\" \/><\/a>I genuflect at the mass of wondrous moments and shared memories. \u00a0Mere reminiscence of our first kiss is lost in the wake of our most recent kiss. \u00a0Every new kiss shatters the inadequacy of my imagination with the surpassing reality of beauty ever anew. \u00a0In the face of such beauty, my poetry pales. \u00a0The irresistible invitation to shut up and kiss me blissfully wins the day, holy inseparable. \u00a0Only when apart is my poetry birthed, orphaned of such beauty, hankering for those unrivaled tears of joy.<\/p>\n<p>This poem, while a testament to the beauty of human love, offers a parallel connection to an even more holy love. As so aptly stated by\u00a0Victor Hugo in <em>Les Miserables<\/em>: &#8220;To love another person is to see the face of God.&#8221; \u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/toppun.com\/Religious-Spiritual\/Buttons\/To-love-another-person-is-to-see-the-face-of-God-Victor-Hugo-Les-Miserables-quote-SPIRITUAL-BUTTON.html\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/toppun.com\/Religious-Spiritual\/To-love-another-person-is-to-see-the-face-of-God-Victor-Hugo-Les-Miserables-quote.gif\" alt=\"To love another person is to see the face of God. Victor Hugo, Les Miserables quote SPIRITUAL BUTTON\" width=\"172\" height=\"172\" \/><\/a>This should surprise no one who sees God as love. \u00a0God revels in your infinite beauty, even if others may not witness it. \u00a0You are an ongoing work of art only adequately appreciated when one\u00a0subject experiences another subject, not merely for what they do or look like, but <em>who<\/em> they are, both a work and source of ineffable art and artistry.<\/p>\n<p>In my poems, I frequently use &#8220;I am&#8221; in a single line. \u00a0This is meant to allude to God, &#8220;I AM.&#8221; \u00a0In Exodus 3:14, Moses is instructed to tell his fellow Israelites from whom he is sent: &#8220;I AM.&#8221; \u00a0The long version, &#8220;I AM <em>WHO<\/em> I AM,&#8221; speaks to the sovereign character of God. \u00a0To the less discerning this may simply appear akin to Popeye declaring &#8220;I am what I am,&#8221; or Forrest Gump simply affirming, &#8220;Stupid is as stupid does.&#8221; \u00a0However, in the pedagogy of God, such tautologies are unhelpful. \u00a0<em>What<\/em>ever Popeye is, is <em>what<\/em> he is. \u00a0On the face of it, <em>what<\/em> stupid is, is what stupid <em>does<\/em>. \u00a0Still, whatever I\u00a0might do, or however I may appear to you, does not fully define <em>who<\/em> I am. \u00a0Your unduplicated\u00a0set of personal thoughts and feelings, hopes and desires, experiences and perspectives, confound explication and formulation. \u00a0And, as for you, as for God (or vice versa). \u00a0You, as an authentic subject, are not fully experienced if only related to as a thing that looks a certain way and behaves in a certain way.
