{"id":2242,"date":"2016-05-03T14:18:38","date_gmt":"2016-05-03T19:18:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/toppun.com\/blog\/?p=2242"},"modified":"2016-05-03T14:18:38","modified_gmt":"2016-05-03T19:18:38","slug":"poem-a-constipated-citizenry","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/toppun.com\/blog\/2016\/05\/03\/poem-a-constipated-citizenry\/","title":{"rendered":"POEM: A Constipated Citizenry"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Not so deep<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Within the body politic<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>A constipated citizenry<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Yearns to be free<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Crying out<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>In a full groan democracy<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Mourning the dearth of moral fiber<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Humanity squat<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>An abject lessen<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Lo expectations<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>As number too<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Clinging to far-fetched promise<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Toil it issues<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>The cant of superdelicates<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>The sulky left over<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>And faltering last rights<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Uptight a bout<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Weather we have it<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>In US<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/toppun.com\/Political\/Buttons\/Stop-Repeat-Offenders-Do-NOT-Re-elect-Them-POLITICAL-BUTTON.html\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/toppun.com\/Political\/Stop-Repeat-Offenders-Do-NOT-Re-elect-Them.gif\" alt=\"Stop Repeat Offenders - Do NOT Re-elect Them POLITICAL BUTTON\" width=\"172\" height=\"173\" \/><\/a>This is at least the turd poem of mine that has featured the metaphor of constipation. \u00a0As a trained nutritionist and poet, I can&#8217;t help but notice the metaphorical parallels of Americans having the smallest poops in the world and having a constipated democracy. \u00a0The highly processed American political diet, dangerously low\u00a0in moral fiber, has created an unhealthy buildup of whatever it is that makes the American electorate want to let loose the half-digested pablum of which it is fed up too hear. \u00a0The bowels of American democracy are grumbling. \u00a0Perennially high cynicism with mainstream, centrist politics has reached new highs. \u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.toppun.com\/Political\/Buttons\/APATHY-The-Deadliest-Weapon-of-Mass-Destruction-POLITICAL-BUTTON.html\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" src=\"http:\/\/toppun.com\/Political\/APATHY-The-Deadliest-Weapon-of-Mass-Destruction.gif\" alt=\"APATHY - The Deadliest Weapon of Mass Destruction POLITICAL BUTTON\" width=\"172\" height=\"172\" \/><\/a>And lo, the constipated political party elites have built up blockages creating no sane path to a functioning democracy, that is, a democracy that actually reflects the will of the people. \u00a0The bankruptcy magnate Donald Trump and corporate-owned aristocrat Hillary Clinton have the highest negative ratings of any two presidential candidates in modern history. \u00a0The disconnect that they represent between privileged power and the will of the people captures most of what is poopy about American electoral politics. \u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.toppun.com\/Political\/Buttons\/Don-t-Laugh-He-s-Paid-For-politician-POLITICAL-BUTTON.html\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/toppun.com\/Political\/Don-t-Laugh-He-s-Paid-For-politician.gif\" alt=\"Don't Laugh, He's Paid For [politician] POLITICAL BUTTON\" width=\"172\" height=\"173\" \/><\/a>Hillary Clinton is beholden by corporate persons of the unhuman kind. \u00a0Donald Trump trumpets his freedom from a moneyed world precisely because he was born, raised and romps in a moneyed world. \u00a0Irony futures must be having a field day! \u00a0Still, the citizen-consumers of America are scared shitless of being number two in even the littlest weighs; and bounteous demagoguery is the cheap consolation price afforded voter and non-voter alike. While it&#8217;s easy to moan and groan about the lack of inspirational candidates in electoral politics, this is a function &#8212; or dysfunction &#8212; of non-electoral politics. The sum total effect of non-electoral and electoral politics is as\u00a0Thomas Jefferson stated: <a href=\"http:\/\/toppun.com\/Political\/Buttons\/A-ballot-is-like-a-bullet-You-don-t-throw-your-ballots-until-you-see-a-target-and-if-that-target-is-not-in-reach-keep-your-ballot-in-your-pocket-Malcolm-X-quote-POLITICAL-BUTTON.html\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" src=\"http:\/\/toppun.com\/Political\/A-ballot-is-like-a-bullet-You-don-t-throw-your-ballots-until-you-see-a-target-and-if-that-target-is-not-in-reach-keep-your-ballot-in-your-pocket-Malcolm-X-quote.gif\" alt=\"A ballot is like a bullet. You don't throw your ballots until you see a target, and if that target is not in reach, keep your ballot in your pocket. Malcolm X quote POLITICAL BUTTON\" width=\"173\" height=\"173\" \/><\/a>\u201cThe government you elect is the government you deserve.\u201d Of coarse, this hole constipated citizenry thing won&#8217;t change until citizens give a shit.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.toppun.com\/Political\/Buttons\/BOTH-Parties-Are-Revolting-Why-Aren-t-You-POLITICAL-BUTTON.html\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/toppun.com\/Political\/BOTH-Parties-Are-Revolting-Why-Aren-t-You.gif\" alt=\"BOTH Parties Are Revolting, Why Aren't You?
