24\/7 on I-75<\/strong>
\nOnly herd<\/strong>
\nIn the mourning<\/strong>
\nQuiet scarce<\/strong>
\nWith the engines of freedom<\/strong>
\nRacing vicious cycles<\/strong>
\nIn know way asking, “who cars?”<\/strong>
\nAs you whirr<\/strong>
\nThe buzz of the high way<\/strong>
\nThe humdrum of civilization<\/strong>
\nThe muffled rumble of capitalism<\/strong>
\nConsumerism trucking along<\/strong>
\nFor what too commute<\/strong>
\nA bird’s eye spew<\/strong>
\nOf see oh too<\/strong>
\nFew<\/strong>
\nKnow reason<\/strong>
\nFore petroleum free way<\/strong><\/p>\n

This poem blends the high octane themes of noise pollution and petroleum pollution.\u00a0 I typically notice the rumble of traffic in the morning as I am waking up and lying in bed.\u00a0 This reminds me that silence really doesn’t exist in urban settings; we just tune out background noises during the busyness of our daze.\u00a0 Passing my one-year anniversary without a car, I find automobiles and traffic increasingly alien to my preferred modes of being.\u00a0 Someday, I hope to live some place where deep silence is easily accessible.\u00a0 I suspect that the leisurely whispers of God may be best\u00a0designed and intended for lovers of silence.\u00a0 As it stands, the earth seems more populated by riotous dudes. \u00a0 May you find the silent spaces in your life full, filling.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
