{"id":1980,"date":"2015-10-08T12:25:17","date_gmt":"2015-10-08T17:25:17","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/toppun.com\/blog\/?p=1980"},"modified":"2015-10-08T12:25:17","modified_gmt":"2015-10-08T17:25:17","slug":"poem-a-blinding-faith","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/toppun.com\/blog\/2015\/10\/08\/poem-a-blinding-faith\/","title":{"rendered":"POEM: A Blinding Faith"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Hers was a blinding faith<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Sow bright<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>That it often left her without peer<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Few could fathom such countenance<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>As she left them smiles behind<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>A grate number are partial<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>To glean faint moonlight<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Mirror dim reflections<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Of their dreary world<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Rather than stare into one such bright star<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Of such undifferentiated light<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>In discriminate hope<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>From celestial furnaces<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Most believe<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Better to be leery<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Anywhere near foreboding<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Inclement whether<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Shoes dropping<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>On roads paved with good intentions<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Or easy devotion to cynical amasses<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Having it made<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>In the shade<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Or even to a void in certitude<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>More at home groping in the dark<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Than by a blinding faith<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This poem is an ode to faith.\u00a0 Faith is metaphysical optimism, the blood that beats through wholehearted living.\u00a0 Faith is\u00a0only manifest in the mettle of life fully lived, put to the test.\u00a0 Such a way of life is akin to the scientific method, but its subject is subjectivity, metaphysics, a life lived to discover or confirm how metaphysical optimism can transform living.\u00a0 Bold testing is the natural course of faith.\u00a0 Where and how far can faith take us?\u00a0 Empirical skepticism, the fuel that powers the engine of science, is analogous to this bold testing.\u00a0 Yet, scientists, who are subjects themselves, often project their own hubris onto subjective matters, leveling &#8220;spirituality&#8221; for putting forth bold &#8212; unfortunately, sometimes bald &#8212; faith assumptions for good living.\u00a0 All the while, there is a nagging tendency to conveniently\u00a0overlook that there is no such thing as an assumptionless philosophy, even by those subjects operating in scientific endeavors.
