The shepherd pays dear<\/strong>
\nAttention to his sheep<\/strong>
\nAs the sheep due<\/strong>
\nNot follow suits<\/strong>
\nBut accompany prophets<\/strong>
\nIn ways safe from a peril<\/strong>
\nThat compound interest in the whirled<\/strong>
\nAs you have herd<\/strong>
\nIt said<\/strong>
\nYou shall not murder<\/strong>
\nBut now this is tolled<\/strong>
\nDo not bill bloodsheds<\/strong>
\nTo finance your palatial manner<\/strong>
\nOr liquidate nations<\/strong>
\nIn the name of kicking assets<\/strong>
\nDo not except life<\/strong>
\nAnd its costly knock offs<\/strong>
\nAnyone who pro claims<\/strong>
\nYour life is feudal <\/strong>
\nOr you fuel<\/strong>
\nWill end up burning oneself<\/strong>
\nAnd anyone bastardizing my word<\/strong>
\nIs an executer of my state<\/strong>
\nDo not purchase good will<\/strong>
\nWile others out lay<\/strong>
\nMake it rite personally<\/strong>
\nWithout gaudy talk <\/strong>
\nBefore just us<\/strong>
\nDecent upon you<\/strong>
\nRather forced to pain<\/strong>

\nAny man dishonoring the source<\/strong>
\nOf human life on earth<\/strong>
\nWood be better off<\/strong>
\nHad he never been borne<\/strong>
\nAny man divorcing himself<\/strong>
\nFrom what is a parent<\/strong>
\nIs not fit for a womb of his owin’ <\/strong>
\nYou have herd<\/strong>
\nIt said<\/strong>
\nLong a go<\/strong>
\nDo not brake your promise<\/strong>
\nBut now this is tolled<\/strong>
\nDo not sow your wiled oaths<\/strong>
\nAt awe<\/strong>
\nYour promise on heaven unearth<\/strong>
\nFrom here on ahead<\/strong>
\nThis simply know<\/strong>
\nAnd yes<\/strong>
\nAny more sow<\/strong>
\nIs from the evil won<\/strong>
\nYou have herd<\/strong>
\nIt said<\/strong>
\nAn eye for an eye<\/strong>
\nAnd a tooth for a tooth<\/strong>
\nBut now this is tolled<\/strong>
\nAs eye tooth sow telling<\/strong>
\nBring to light every bone picked<\/strong>
\nSow not striking in efface<\/strong>
\nAs a retainer of humanity<\/strong>
\nAnd if won from beyond<\/strong>
\nWhat is fare comes<\/strong>
\nBarren suits<\/strong>
\nDown on you<\/strong>
\nMake just us naked<\/strong>
\nXXX-posing<\/strong>
\nShame on them<\/strong>
\nFarcing won too walk a mile<\/strong>
\nSow trying<\/strong>
\nTo catch up with your smiles<\/strong>
\nOnly wanting them<\/strong>
\nTo borrow<\/strong>
\nAwe that you have<\/strong>
\nAnd if knot<\/strong>
\nMake no’ing to all<\/strong>
\nYou have herd<\/strong>
\nIt said<\/strong>
\nLove your neighbor<\/strong>
\nAnd hate your enemy<\/strong>
\nBut now this is tolled<\/strong>
\nLove awe<\/strong>
\nBefore you<\/strong>
\nDe-spite those who prey<\/strong>
\nWile publicly prosecuting<\/strong>
\nYou as their enema<\/strong>
\nKnowing full well<\/strong>
\nSons rise<\/strong>
\nAnd reigns fall<\/strong>
\nAs surly as won nose<\/strong>
\nEffacing such loathsome fishiness <\/strong>
\nToo tax a verse<\/strong>
\nGetting more than you put in<\/strong>
\nAs children of ungaudiness<\/strong>
\nSeeking abettor<\/strong>
\nSow much better<\/strong>
\nThan that which they are used<\/strong>
\nTo have<\/strong>
\nBeing<\/strong>
\nHoly one’s own<\/strong>
\nReflecting awe<\/strong>
\nGiven freely<\/strong><\/p>\n

This poem is a punny paraphrase of Matthew 5:21-48, the middle portion of The Sermon on The Mount.\u00a0 The Sermon on The Mount is considered the core of Jesus’ teachings, his stump speech.\u00a0 The title alludes to one of my stock concepts in my poems, the notion of humans being reduced to math, mere calculations in an oppressive algorithm, and its lowest common dominator, conventional wisdom.\u00a0 This central litany of Jesus’ “You have heard it said, but I tell you” razes the bar and builds a whole, new worldview.\u00a0 Jesus’ message transcends the traditional message of religionists and secular conventional wisdom.\u00a0 This culminates in the proclamation that God rains on the just and the unjust.\u00a0 This indiscriminate love is the unending ideology that Jesus is found rooting, nurtured by such reign as is God’s.\u00a0 Jesus incarnated the reality that we are at our best when we are fully our self and fully God’s.\u00a0 Accepting and giving freely is the deepest nature of God that we can reflect in our lives.\u00a0 Jesus was such the juggernaut of grace whose designs were to overthrow the weighs of the whirled.\u00a0 Jesus did not desire to be some historical pinnacle set up on an untouchable pedestal and worshiped.\u00a0 Jesus lived to tear down the very notion of untouchable, the bedrock of dominating class.\u00a0 Anyone accessing the indiscriminate love that Jesus accessed, that is, asking for anything in Jesus’ name\/character will surpass even Jesus’ accomplishments during his life: “Anyone who believes in me, will do the same works I do, and even greater works.” (John 14:12)\u00a0 Of course, indiscriminate love is a lousy foundation to rule over others, totally in sync with the instruction by Jesus to be servant leaders, not masters.\u00a0 Religion, committed to such a precept, will find itself at the heart of human needs, as the oppressed and dispossessed will be attracted like a magnet to non-judgment and working solidarity and service — awe without a needs assessment!\u00a0 Of course, you will find an enemy in the powers that be which depend of dividing and conquering for their dehumanizing weigh of life.\u00a0 I find great joy and solace in the summary (variously attributed)\u00a0 that Jesus only promised us three things: to be completely fearless, absurdly happy, and in constant trouble.\u00a0 May it be so!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
