He knew knot<\/strong>
\nExactly where<\/strong>
\nHe was going<\/strong>
\nAs fate would have it<\/strong>
\nSeized by easy convictions<\/strong>
\nBig house<\/strong>
\nAuto, pilot<\/strong>
\nAnd every won else’s<\/strong>
\nRe-guard<\/strong>
\nOf one self full<\/strong>
\nFilled<\/strong>
\nBuy in<\/strong>
\nAnd sell out<\/strong>
\nIn humanity<\/strong>
\nA sure thing<\/strong>
\nThe gold<\/strong>
\nIn rule<\/strong>
\nA void<\/strong>
\nApprehensions<\/strong>
\nOf vassal late<\/strong>
\nMaking one’s self<\/strong>
\nThe whore of certain knowledge<\/strong>
\nThe john of dreams undared<\/strong>
\nUnfailing in his coarse<\/strong>
\nFining himself<\/strong>
\nScared to dearth<\/strong>
\nOf his constipated destiny meting<\/strong><\/p>\n

This poem deals with the vanity and danger of pursuing material success and cashing in on conventional wisdom.\u00a0 The good life is all too often pawned off as having fine possessions or relishing in status or celebrity.\u00a0 Possessions have a way of possessing us.\u00a0 In a world where so many have so little, fine possessions can be devilish.\u00a0 Status or celebrity has a way of simply highlighting our own emptiness or hypocrisy in a pressurized or scrutinized existence.\u00a0 Fine possessions and status are typically acquired through the successful use (and misuse) of conventional wisdom, or simply through unmerited privilege.\u00a0 Albeit, celebrity sometimes comes through more notorious means.\u00a0 Still, we all know where this leads: the well-worn hierarchies of winners and losers.\u00a0 In a constipated destiny, everyone knows their place.\u00a0 Predictability (sometimes better known as ‘security’) and fatalism serve as poor substitutes for true daring and bold hope.\u00a0 Well-worn rules (and rulers) of the game leave little but cheap thrills and expensive highs to assuage our stultified lives.\u00a0 The bulk of our lives are leased for weekends.\u00a0 Passionate vocations are bartered for passing vacations.\u00a0 Awe sold for certainty.\u00a0 Dreams pimped for fear of being a sucker, or worse.\u00a0 May you live a life where you are not scared to dearth, settling for mere material finery or tranquilizing status, a constipated destiny, or hellish blandness.\u00a0 May you follow your dreams in a way that literally scares the hell out of others!<\/p>\n
