One moment I have a car<\/strong>
\nThe next moment I don’t<\/strong>
\nThe universe conspires<\/strong>
\nTo nourish my feral body and sole<\/strong>
\nNot with the twisted steal of civilization<\/strong>
\nBut as a carrot<\/strong>
\nIn a field of vision<\/strong>
\nMeting its purpose at crunch time<\/strong>
\nAnd the growing realization<\/strong>
\nConsummated by that instant in sight<\/strong>
\nThat know one was hurt<\/strong>
\nA mist the scarred land marks<\/strong>
\nMother Earth will breathe a little easier now<\/strong>
\nAs I will<\/strong>
\nWalk and bike her paved surface<\/strong>
\nIn treating me to go deeper<\/strong>
\nEver-seeking serendipitous lifts<\/strong>
\nIn tangling with the care less<\/strong>
\nAnd the car less<\/strong>
\nI am<\/strong>
\nFeted to join<\/strong>
\nThe bus people in the world<\/strong><\/p>\n

This poem is an ode to my car being totaled in a wreck yesterday when a woman turned her car in front of me as I was going through an intersection.\u00a0 Gracefully, no one was hurt.\u00a0 To make a long story short, my beloved car will unlikely be resurrected, and I am not really in a position to buy and maintain another car (even if I get some modest settlement for my beater car in this instance).\u00a0 Over the last couple of years, I have contemplated the notion of living without owning a car.\u00a0 I figured that this would become a reality at some point in the coming years.\u00a0 Due to two seconds yesterday, this reality has manifest much sooner, without warning.\u00a0 Like they say: if you want to make God laugh, tell God your plans!\u00a0 Of course, I want to make God laugh.\u00a0 Fortunately, God persistently has better plans for me than I can implement through my well-planned connivings.\u00a0 I find these junctures in life as fascinating paradoxes of the worst possible timing and perfect timing.\u00a0 As a die-hard metaphysical optimist, I am going to go with the perfect timing.\u00a0 Yep, that’s my story, and I’m sticking with it!<\/p>\n

So, I took the bus today.\u00a0 This was the first time in a long time.\u00a0 Most assuredly, this bus ride will be the first of many.\u00a0 I asked the bus driver if he had a schedule for the 20\/24 line and he said, with a seasoned blend of acceptance and resignation,”We haven’t had those schedules for months.”\u00a0 I fully expect my busing experiences to be rife with poetic inspiration.\u00a0 Look out, folks, my feral trajectory is coming to fruition, fraught with unworn deliciousness…<\/p>\n
