Dave lost his head<\/strong>
\nOn the edge of barbarism<\/strong>
\nShariq found his blown to pieces<\/strong>
\nOn the edge of civilization<\/strong>
\nSavage swordplay and droning videogames<\/strong>
\nMedieval meets modern<\/strong>
\nDeath metes equally<\/strong>
\nTo those dispensing<\/strong>
\nAid to enemas<\/strong>
\nAnd bad abettors<\/strong>
\nIn gruesome gambols<\/strong>
\nWhere the hows always wins<\/strong>
\nAnd the whys are confounded<\/strong>
\nWeather fatally sored<\/strong>
\nIn phase too phase war fair<\/strong>
\nOr insights of a video chimera<\/strong>
\nA cross continence<\/strong>
\nEither weigh<\/strong>
\nEach respectively<\/strong>
\nGiven the finger<\/strong>
\nIn a speak easy of honor<\/strong>
\nWear suits are sir rated<\/strong>
\nAnd buttons pressed<\/strong>
\nUnited in death<\/strong>
\nLilliputian tears fill our see<\/strong>
\nCrescendoing whoppers bound by feared flees<\/strong>
\nFooly contempt plated<\/strong>
\nWear wee be headed<\/strong>
\nA long the heart of wore<\/strong>
\nOur ultimate objective<\/strong>
\nHour final destiny<\/strong>
\nOnly too find ourselves<\/strong>
\nNaked to death<\/strong>
\nAnd life<\/strong>
\nAll the amour<\/strong>
\nOf which elicit<\/strong><\/p>\n

This anti-war poem was inspired by recent beheadings, which seem to have been very effective in eliciting a spirit of war in Team America.\u00a0 Such barbaric acts by our enemies strike at the heart of our civilized sensibilities, much more than our regular less-than-civilized killings of the occasional enemy and more frequent nearby noncombatants.\u00a0 U.S. wars have droned on for years.\u00a0 This has been mostly below the radar of U.S. public awareness and above retaliation by its non-American and un-American victims.\u00a0 There is little doubt that when theatrical barbarism and video-game inspired drone warfare meet that war will be the big winner.\u00a0 The losers will be uncountable. The few winners will be unaccountable.<\/p>\n

This poem’s title is a take off on the infamous treatise, The Art of War, by Sun Tzu.\u00a0 Wearing your heart is a dangerous thing when the drums of war are beating.\u00a0 No doubt, the world can be a scary and dangerous place.\u00a0 Nonetheless, I am convinced that humanity is in much greater danger of losing its heart than losing its head.\u00a0 Each of us will be dead some day.\u00a0 The more important question will be whether our hearts are intact, not our heads.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
