{"id":1594,"date":"2014-08-12T10:21:00","date_gmt":"2014-08-12T15:21:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/toppun.com\/blog\/?p=1594"},"modified":"2014-08-12T10:27:13","modified_gmt":"2014-08-12T15:27:13","slug":"poem-quiet-the-view","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/toppun.com\/blog\/2014\/08\/12\/poem-quiet-the-view\/","title":{"rendered":"POEM: Quiet the View"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Hope<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Was<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Present<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>On the horizon<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">S<\/span>outh<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">E<\/span>ast<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">W<\/span>est<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">N<\/span>orth<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>into the fabric of existence<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Be not afraid<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Weather<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Looking up<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Looking down<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Such peek experiences<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Are awe ways just<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Round the corner<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I haven&#8217;t published a poem in a while.\u00a0 I have been attending to other stuff, such as a couple of family reunions and moving my Mom from out-of-town to really out-of-town.\u00a0 I have written poems during this time, though most of my poetry and verse has simply returned from whence it came.\u00a0 I feel that I have irreversibly headed down the path of a poet.\u00a0 My mind regularly (or irregularly) drifts toward poetry.\u00a0 Most anything can trigger inspiration.\u00a0 If poetry where a second language to learn, you might say that I am dreaming in poetry now, as verse becomes second nature.<\/p>\n<p>This poem was written during a break from helping my Mom move.\u00a0 We were in her 25th story corner apartment in a downtown Detroit coop apartment building.\u00a0 Of course, she had lived there long enough that there was way more than 25 stories now.\u00a0 I was enjoying the fabulous panoramic view when this poem sprung from the horizon.<\/p>\n<p>As is oft the case, this poem is about hope.\u00a0 Hope has always been.\u00a0 Hope is present now.\u00a0 Hope is always on the horizon.\u00a0 Hope is SEWN into the fabric of our existence.\u00a0 The phrase, &#8220;Be not afraid,&#8221; has special significance since it is the instruction that Jesus most frequently gave his disciples.\u00a0 Hope, like many godly things, can be elusive.\u00a0 Fear seems to be very effective at getting our attention; though much more blunt than the subtleties of hope, faith, and love.\u00a0 Jesus leverages the palpability of fear to preface his deeper messages.\u00a0 Fear is a great diagnostic tool to identify our personal blocks to experiencing hope, faith, and love.\u00a0 If we can&#8217;t get past fear, then hope seems&#8230;hopeless.\u00a0 Life inevitably has its ups and downs.\u00a0 The difficulties in life can mire us in the rough edges of life, those corners that we can&#8217;t see around.\u00a0 May you have the presence to seek peek experiences and find that you round the corner.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Hope Was Present On the horizon South East West North into the fabric of existence Be not afraid Weather Looking up Looking down Such peek experiences Are awe ways just Round the corner I haven&#8217;t published a poem in a &hellip; <a href=\"https:\/\/toppun.com\/blog\/2014\/08\/12\/poem-quiet-the-view\/\">Continue reading <span class=\"meta-nav\">&rarr;<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[32,9,15],"tags":[294,428,432,589,462,65,388,292,24,79,359,273,438,62,379,658,291,94,491,53,529],"class_list":["post-1594","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-about-top-pun","category-poems","category-political-and-philosophical-musings","tag-awe","tag-experience","tag-faith","tag-family","tag-fear","tag-god","tag-hope","tag-inspiration","tag-jesus","tag-joy","tag-life","tag-love","tag-mind","tag-mom","tag-nature","tag-poems","tag-poet","tag-poetry","tag-present","tag-short-poems","tag-time"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.8 - https:\/\/yoast.com\/product\/yoast-seo-wordpress\/ -->\n<title>POEM: Quiet the View | About Top Pun, Poems, Political and Philosophical Musings | Top Pun&#039;s Poetry, Funny Puns, Free Posters, Public Health Radio Show!
