Fear takes you<\/strong>
\nToo the toil it<\/strong>
\nFor those privy to life<\/strong>
\nIf you have years, listen<\/strong>
\nCourage makes you<\/strong>
\nWhat sow ever the seasoning<\/strong>
\nSpring dew<\/strong>
\nOr winter flakes<\/strong>
\nYou knead not be<\/strong>
\nScared for life<\/strong>
\nWeather an incite job<\/strong>
\nOr out word bound<\/strong>
\nSo telling<\/strong>
\nDown with that<\/strong>
\nQuizzical expression<\/strong>
\nFacing your maker<\/strong>
\nSew your frayed<\/strong>
\nStranded<\/strong>
\nOver looking<\/strong>
\nNeedle-less to say<\/strong>
\nWhat will<\/strong>
\nIt take<\/strong>
\nEnough<\/strong>
\nTo send a chill down your spying<\/strong>
\nFeeling so<\/strong>
\nSmall still<\/strong>
\nVoice<\/strong>
\nWhich can knot<\/strong>
\nBe herd<\/strong>
\nIn a big baaaaad whirled<\/strong>
\nWear everything<\/strong>
\nIs holey<\/strong>
\nFlocked up<\/strong>
\nAs you<\/strong>
\nSheepishly secede<\/strong>
\nJust getting<\/strong>
\nThrew it<\/strong>
\nWandering<\/strong>
\nIf only<\/strong>
\nPoor Me<\/strong>
\nMight be<\/strong>
\nBetter off<\/strong>
\nDread<\/strong>
\nThen mined<\/strong>
\nRacing<\/strong>
\nAs if<\/strong>
\nPossessed<\/strong>
\nYet without<\/strong>
\nApprehension<\/strong>
\nShuddering your vary life<\/strong>
\nFrighting fore breath<\/strong>
\nToo feel the qualm<\/strong>
\nAs dismay<\/strong>
\nOr may not<\/strong>
\nCome about<\/strong>
\nOr in courage found<\/strong>
\nA future borne<\/strong>
\nWeather bold over<\/strong>
\nOr destiny snatched<\/strong>
\nYou will<\/strong>
\nIn deed<\/strong>
\nLearn<\/strong>
\nTo let go<\/strong>
\nAnd discover<\/strong>
\nWhatever<\/strong>
\nAttain meant<\/strong>
\nHaving shown up<\/strong>
\nAs fully present<\/strong>
\nEqual too<\/strong>
\nThe fair and bizaar<\/strong>
\nYielding<\/strong>
\nA candid life, sow sweet<\/strong>
\nOn the up and up<\/strong><\/p>\n

This poem about fear was by request — yesterday.\u00a0 I thought that it would take a couple of weeks to get to it, but the muse is fickle and demanding.\u00a0 Thanks to my neighbor’s unduly loud alarm going off AGAIN at 5 AM, I surrendered to wakefulness and wrote this poem.<\/p>\n

Fear and worry seldom pay good dividends.\u00a0 I do find fear to be a great diagnostic tool to identify issues that I need to be aware of and work on.\u00a0 Fears seem to populate the surface of life, often masking deeper desires.\u00a0 One of my favorite quotes is by Amela Earhart, “Courage is the price that life exacts for granting peace.”\u00a0 Our lack of peace is probably directly proportional to our lack of courage.\u00a0 I cannot tell you what form courage needs to take in your life, but it is the engine of peace.<\/p>\n

I often like to boil ideas down to their simplest distillation.\u00a0 One formula for life that I’ve run across has impressed me with both its brevity and power:\u00a0 Show up.\u00a0 Pay attention.\u00a0 Tell the truth.\u00a0 Let go of the outcome.\u00a0 <\/em>This covers a lot of ground!\u00a0 May you find wisdom and courage to secure a sweet peace.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
