Eulogizing Fort Hood<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

It is not ours to ask
\nWhy those so schooled
\nIn violence
\nShould act violently
\nOn a vocation so seriously
\nTaking
\nWon too many weepings
\nLead so quickly
\nPenetrating human hearts
\nOur own flesh
\nNot at home
\nIn alien nation
\nAnd returning veterans upon veterans
\nWhat doors have been shut
\nWhat calm
\nMight be expected
\nIt is
\nNot enough
\nGuns to keep us safe
\nBut arms withheld
\nOnce again<\/span><\/p>\n

Today were the funeral ceremonies for the victims of the recent Fort Hood shootings.\u00a0 Such tragedies are probably not well prevented by doing violence better.\u00a0 Perhaps we should try to do nonviolence better.\u00a0 Let’s give peace a chance.\u00a0 Maybe some day we can eulogize Fort Hood.<\/p>\n
