I look in the mirror<\/span>
\nAt a real piece of work<\/span>
\nAnd I thank God<\/span>
\nThat genius recognizes genius<\/span>
\nSharing more than mere image<\/span><\/p>\n

I am more than the sum of the images that you can make of me. If you can’t see the genius in this, then there isn’t much I can do about that.\u00a0 The same as is with genius is with God.\u00a0 Defining God is like trying to define pornography. \u00a0 As one judge once famously said, “I can’t define pornography, but I know it when I see it\u201d<\/a> –Justice Stewart in Jacobellis v. Ohio 378 US 184 (1964).<\/p>\n

Some may cry out “Hubris!”\u00a0 This poem’s assertion may strike some as arrogant, lacking in humility.\u00a0 However, humility is a double-edged sword.\u00a0 Humility is not only about not making yourself out to be bigger than you are.\u00a0 Humility is also about not making yourself out to be smaller than you are.\u00a0 Humility is about right-sizing yourself — you might even say righteousness.\u00a0 To look at God’s obviously unfathomable creation and assert that it is only as it appears, is hardly a Kodak moment worth the film it is imprinted upon!<\/p>\n

I will go a step further.\u00a0 For those daring to contend that there is an inner self, then some may see this as merely about inner and outer worlds.\u00a0 Endless images of the outer world cannot capture the inner aspect within me.\u00a0 True.\u00a0 Nevertheless, I contend that I cannot even fathom the real piece of work that I am!\u00a0 There is part of me of which I cannot make sense, cannot be defined.\u00a0 It is beyond me, transcendent.\u00a0 Yet I know it when I see it.\u00a0 I find it wholly.\u00a0 And I stand dumb, humbled.\u00a0 I want to share more than mere image.\u00a0 Yet I can see if you don’t see it.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
