Many great authors<\/span>
\nVeritable prose<\/span>
\nComposed<\/span>
\nMany glorified pages<\/span>
\nOf legends owed<\/span>
\nEpitomizing a theme<\/span>
\nDepicting perfect variations<\/span>
\nEpic anecdotes<\/span>
\nIn firmity<\/span>
\nContracted<\/span>
\nBy edifices<\/span>
\nOf many stories<\/span>
\nI prefer the novelty<\/span>
\nOf a single sentence<\/span>
\nUnleashing countless perspectives<\/span>
\nLeaping tall buildings<\/span>
\nCondemned<\/span>
\nTo freedom<\/span>
\nFacing immanent decomposition<\/span>
\nA tale doggedly wagging<\/span>
\nKneading not<\/span>
\nA collect<\/span>
\nThe preyer of singular digits<\/span>
\nFollowed by zeroes<\/span>
\nOffering<\/span>
\nNo cure awe<\/span>
\nBeyond<\/span>
\nNe’er rating<\/span>
\nGuttenburgers<\/span>
\nServing billions<\/span>
\nIn the court<\/span>
\nOf public opinion<\/span>
\nIn loo of<\/span>
\nAuthor original<\/span>
\nNameless<\/span><\/p>\n

This poem is an ode to the commercialization of the art of writing.\u00a0 This is less an indictment of authors trying to make a living than the nature of others trying to make a living off authors.\u00a0 Also, this poem speaks to my preference for poetry versus prose.\u00a0 I must confess, I had a great laugh with the epiphany of “Guttenburger,” a literate hybrid pun, unduplicated in its meatiness.\u00a0 The image of a hurried run of trashy novels on the jacked up modern equivalent of the Guttenberg press, like fast food burgers on a conveyor grill, about sums up art meeting modern civilization.\u00a0 As Western civilization quickly monetizes and copies right any art sufficient to the task, artists continue the eternal struggle to pay worthy homage to the original author nameless and unnamable, reproducing endless originals.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
