{"id":1009,"date":"2013-08-09T13:01:32","date_gmt":"2013-08-09T18:01:32","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/toppun.com\/blog\/?p=1009"},"modified":"2013-08-09T13:01:32","modified_gmt":"2013-08-09T18:01:32","slug":"poem-awkward-phase","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/toppun.com\/blog\/2013\/08\/09\/poem-awkward-phase\/","title":{"rendered":"POEM: Awkward Phase"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-size: large;\">I often find myself stuck in that awkward time between birth and death<\/span><\/p>\n<p>My Dad is fond of saying, &#8220;The only constant is change.&#8221; \u00a0Life is dynamic. \u00a0Buddhism teaches that no thing is permanent in itself; but rather that every thing exists within a constantly changing relationship with everything else. \u00a0Thus, the centrality of impermanence in Buddhist thought. \u00a0If you think that things are &#8220;stuck&#8221; or even on a plateau, then your perception is illusory. \u00a0Of course, this perception of &#8220;stuckness&#8221; or permanence is commonplace. \u00a0The awkward moment or phase is when one realizes that all of life is in this condition of impermanence! \u00a0Of course, the &#8220;all of life&#8221; is typically placed between&#8221;birth and death.&#8221; \u00a0Philosophers, theologians, and metaphysicians are also inclined to ponder life after death and\/or life before birth. \u00a0Cynics are bound to ponder whether there is life between birth and death!
