When my 90-year-old dad died last, his last months of care were made possible by refugee and immigrant caregivers. This poem was inspired when I heard someone speak of the fact that people of non-western cultures are raised to revere elders and that it is an honor to care for them. I hope that America can come to, learn the incalculably beautiful contributions that immigrants and refugees make every day to improve awe of our lives…<\/p>\n

\nThis plan it
\nIts children
\nFlee their homes
\nAnd the vary borders
\nWhich helled them
\nToo land in anew land
\nAs stitch to gather
\nAs much as they kin
\nThey\u2019re broke in hommes
\nCared aweigh
\nSew sew much
\nIn knew hands
\nOf the largesse seem stress
\nAs off spring springing from
\nThat mother land shared by awe
\nCradled in owed country
\nPeering to honor there elders
\nNurse themselves
\nAnd others
\nIn the end
\nOf life
\nCarrying on
\nAnew
\nFor those who can\u2019t
